Pictured are staff from Waterford Health Park, the award-winning primary healthcare campus on Slievekeale Road in Waterford, who have just started a ‘Move Smart’ challenge that will run for eight weeks during which they hope to walk a combined 12m steps and get more active every day. As part of the challenge, the team are using a pedometer app on their smartphones to measure their step count each day. Patients and members of the public are invited to join the 10,000 steps-a-day challenge and should visit Waterford Health Park if they’d like to get involved. Countless studies have shown the proven link between a more active lifestyle and better health. The impact of the ‘Move Smart’ challenge on participants will also be measured as part of a scientific study to demonstrate the positive benefits of exercise.
